Automatic exchange of information

As soon as you access the site MYPETTAGS.CA, your computer and the site's server automatically exchange information. However, this exchange does not allow you to be personally identified (e.g.: name, telephone number, address, subject of the request), without you having to intervene. The information exchanged is:

→ the domain name (e.g.: xcompagny.com, if you use a private Internet access account; universite.edu, if your access is through a university; etc.)
→ the IP address (e.g.: 123.45.67.123) which could allow an Internet provider to disclose the identity of the person associated with it
→ the type of browser (e.g. Firefox, Explorer, Chrome, etc.) and operating system (e.g. Windows, Mac OS, Linux, etc.) you are using
→ the pages you visit
→ the date and time you access these pages
→ the address of the referring site from which you reached the site

The site collects this information because of the technological requirements inherent to Internet navigation. In fact, the server needs it to send you files compatible with the computer equipment you use. Please be assured, however, that under no circumstances will these requirements allow you to be identified.

The information is stored and used by MYPETTAGS.CA for statistical purposes. They are used to count the number of visits, the most visited pages, the technology used by these visitors, the referring sites and the country of origin of the visitors. In no case are they used to draw up user lists.

Transmission of personal information

The site does not collect any personal information without the visitor's consent.

Generally, you do not have to provide any personal information. The only exceptions apply to certain services which may require you to do so. In this case, strict measures have been taken to ensure that the site is secure.

We remind you that the transmission of information by email is not completely secure. This is why we do not recommend disclosing personal information such as your social insurance number by email. We do the same for our part by not responding to your questions by email when this involves transmitting confidential data.

Electronic messages are treated with the same confidentiality measures as mail received by post. If you transmit personal information by email, by filling out an unsecured online form or by subscribing to a mailing list, and in which case we conclude that you are giving us your consent, please be assured that:

→ the site will only use the information required to respond to and follow up on your request
→ the information transmitted will in no case be used to create user profiles
→ the site will not transmit any information to another private organization

In accordance with the law, you can have free access to any personal information that the site holds about you. You can demand that inaccurate, incomplete or ambiguous information be rectified or destroyed. Any request for communication, rectification or destruction must be made in writing or by email.

Data retention period

Administrative useful lifetime (AUL) applicable to the main procedures managed by MYPETTAGS.CA. The AUL covers the retention period in the active database and in internal archives.

Procedure AUL of information collected as part of the procedure

Our security protocol

The site uses cutting-edge technologies and equipment which ensure the security of its transactional pages and maintain the confidential nature of the data exchanged there.

The security protocol it uses, SSL (Secure Socket Layers), makes it possible to transform the information entered into encrypted information (128-bit encryption) and to verify the identity of the parties (the user and the portal) who communicate together via the Internet.

Generally, secure pages are identified using the [padlock] symbol which appears at the bottom of the screen. This symbol ensures that the transmission of information provided by the user is encrypted.

Your User Responsibilities

To benefit from maximum security, it is recommended to:

→ use the most recent version of a browser that complies with security requirements (SSL protocol with 128-bit encryption)
→ clear your computer's cache after transmitting your data
→ keep your identification data, your access code and your password confidential (The site cannot under any circumstances be held responsible for unauthorized use of these.)
